TOWN ended a run of three successive league defeats - and avenged their humiliating Boxing Day defeat at Throstle Nest - as they eased to victory in the opening game of 2008.
And there never appeared to be any doubt about the result despite the fact that the Shaymen played for more than an hour with 10 men after Anthony Griffith was sent off.

The midfielder walked after a studs up challenge from behind on Farsley's Amjad Iqbal the referee saw at very close quarters.
Town were already ahead at that stage thanks to a Mark Jackson own goal and they doubled their advantage five minutes after the break with a stunning Jon Shaw strike - his 12th of the season.
And while the visitors had spells of pressure on the Town goal, they rarely forced keeper Adam Legzdins into action.
The Shaymen were already on top by the time they took a 10th minute lead, Steve Torpey twice having a strike at goal in the early stages.
And although the breakthrough came from the foot of Farsley defender Jackson, sliding in to prevent Shaw from tapping home, it was a move that deserved a goal down the left that created the chance, Lewis Killeen playing in a great ball for Matt Doughty to run onto and send in a low cross to the edge of the six yard box
Nine minutes later Adam Quinn headed Tom Kearney's corner towards the bottom corner only for former Town stopper Tom Morgan to leap to his right and save.
And when the outstanding Simon Heslop sent Rob Scott racing clear down the right a second goal looked odds on, but the defender sent his shot flying over the bar.
Killeen's fight foot shot from wide on the left bounced onto the top of the bar as the Shaymen continued to exert pressure.
But their efforts went unrewarded and they were reduced to 10 men just before the half-hour when Griffith picked up his third red card of the season.
Even after that, it was Town who created the better chances, Torpey having a low shot saved after good work by Killeen and Tom Kearney, and Kearney sending in a free kick that Morgan claimed.
Not until the 44th minute did the visitors trouble Legzdins, who saved well from former Shay trainee Lee Tuck.
The second half could hardly have started any better for Halifax who went two-up within five minutes of the restart.
Doughty's long ball forward was superbly taken in his stride by Shaw who moved wide on the left before unleashing a left foot drive that flew into the roof of the net.
The control was brilliant. The finish was even better.
Three minutes later Heslop lifted a pass over the top for Shaw who should have added his second, but was denied by the legs of Morgan.
And a stretching Quinn was inches away from connecting with a Steve Torpey cross soon after that.
Scott McNiven's free kick never looked like troubling Legzdins and throughout a little spell of Farsley pressure Jake Wright was superb, heading anything that went near Town's six-yard line.
On the break, the Shaymen continued to promise further goals, but Shaw fired well over after latching onto Wright's ball, Torpey fired narrowly wide when unmarked after more good build up play on the right involving Heslop and Scott, and Shaw headed Torpey's deep corner over the bar.
Farsley's two best chances came in a two minute spell, Damian Reeves was denied by Legzdins's legs and the keeper reacted well to dive to his right and turn Ashley Allanson's deflected long ranger round the post.
Andy Campbell's introduction perked up the game and the striker almost bagged a goal on his return from a three-and-a-half month absence with a viciously-dipping 25-yard shot that smacked against Morgan's bar.
Wright did well to deny Reeves the chance to claim a consolation effort in the final minute and Allanson had the ball in the net from the resulting corner but Legzdins had clearly been fouled.
There was one final chance for the Shaymen when Heslop shaped up for one of his trademark piledrivers, but his shot lacked the required accuracy and flew over the top.

Griffith's Town future looking bleak

Star Shayman
Simon Heslop has been performing to a consistently high standard for a couple of months now.
Even when he cannot get his game going his tenacity in the middle of the field gets him through matches.
But yesterday it was his eye for a pass which shone like a beacon as he picked out the runs of his teammates.
Every time he picked up the ball he was looking to get forward.
At the back, where Town have creaked in recent weeks, Jake Wright was simply magnificent.
He did not miss a header all afternoon and during Farsley best spell of pressure in the second half it was invariably Wright who cleared the danger.
He was helped out by Rob Scott who also showed his attacking intent when he linked up with Heslop down the right flank.
Heslop takes the three points on offer in our season-long competition with Wright two and Scott one.

Much better today, because we didn't take a striker off when down to 10 men. Wilder unusually positive decisons - happy town fan

Griffiths must be moved on after third sending off . Win crucial against glorified pub team should have scored more . Campbell back did well stamp to go? Bigstu

Better performance. Both Wright + Shaw excellent. But its Farsley Celtic at the end of the day! Lets get on a roll now. Nice to see Wilder clap the fans. For once! Jra
