Halifax Town have survived in the Conference League despite losing on a nail-biting final day of the season.
Altrincham could only draw at Weymouth 2-2 and although Halifax were beaten 2-1 at the Shay by Stevenage, the Shaymen survived.

It was a dramatic day and after the game at the Shay finished, there were four minutes of injury time at Weymouth. But Altrincham failed to score again and they were relegated.

Now Halifax must hope that they can come out of administration and make a fresh start next season - still in the Conference.

Stevenage went ahead through Steve Morison midway through the first half and doubled their lead when Gavin Grant bagged a second.

Jon Shaw pulled one back for Town but despite a frantic finale they could not find an equaliser

Boss Chris Wilder was disappointed with the result, but delighted that the Shaymen survived by the skin of their teeth.

"If there was any luck going, I think we deserved it," said Wilder.

"The game summed up our season, really, giving two sloppy goals away then producing a strirring fightback.

"But I have nothing but praise for the players who were put in a difficult situation with the 10-point deduction."

Because of people like you thats why the club will struggle the people of Halifax are a disgrace to the foot ball club, the biggest enemy to the club are a percentage of people in this town who rubbish this club at any given chance.Having been to most of the towns in the conference or coca cola league 2 you wont find a much bigger dump of a town anywhere.

porky brazil,
Hey it an't the town that's rubbish!
It's the people who have no interest in it - from the council down.
Calderdale could be great if these people would work to make it so?
But what else can you expect when there are more incomers these days - Calder aliens?

yes you make a good point there Peter if people took an intrest in the Town and the club we would have a Town to be proud of look at places like Burnley ,Wigan ,Crewe they are similar sized towns all got decent football teams

What is there to be proud of. They can't even win on their home ground - nothing to with support.

Close down and call it a day and save some oney instead of losing more.

Why drag it on further - there aren't enough people in Halifax that are interested in this very poor rate team.

vicroad,
That's surely the challenge? To get folk interested in the town, and it's football club again, might get all those hefty grants we keep missing out on?
The outside world says, Oh, Halifax, well they just sit and moan, forget 'em!
That guy that's coming to see the Piece Hall? What yer betting he gets the impression from out Council that they aren't bothered - then why should he go away and arrange some help?
Other towns have Councils that work better on these things, why?

Poor rated team higher rated than the town when the shay is finished it will embrass the rest of the town shaymen play in the national conference if you rated Halifax as place it would be sunday laegue so the shaymen are over achieving .

Peter

It is the same again and again with Halifax Town, every so many years bring out the beggin bowl, go into receivership, same again and again - more repeats than BBC.

Once and for all let it go - it will never be able to raise enough money to support full time professional players.

It could end up making other small firms bankrupt - just like what they are and should be declared so - I'm sure that they could be done for trading illegally over the past few years!

Phew - what a way to finish. Those last few minutes were an ordeal. Still can't believe we survived. Thank you Weymouth! Up the Shaymen!
