BOSS Chris Wilder hailed his side as they moved a step closer to fulfilling the dream of a Wembley final with a clinical destruction of Bishop's Stortford at the Shay last night.
Two goals in each half - Adam Quinn and Craig Nelthorpe in the first, Jon Shaw and Tom Sharpe in the second - saw them ease to a 4-1 second round replay win and book a home third round tie with Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday.
See the slide show from the game."I thought we were excellent from start to finish," he said. "Our set pieces were good and our play on a difficult surface was good.
"Jon Shaw's goal was excellent, Craig Nelthorpe showed glimpses of what he is about. It was a pleasing night.
"I was delighted for the players."
While he was delighted with the performance and the result, which leaves Town just three ties from Wembley, Wilder was frustrated that just 728 watched the game - the lowest home crowd of the season.
And he urged everyone involved with the club - from top to bottom - to pull in the same direction
"I appreciate the supporters who went down and backed us last night," he said.
"Obviously people get frustrated and I don't know if the low attendance is because it is a Trophy game, if it is because everyone feels the team is not up to scratch or the manager is not doing the job he is supposed to do.
"For the last five and a half years people have pulled in so many different directions. I don't see a lot of unity.
"The club will never be successful in that situation no matter who is manager.
"I see people trying to do their best out on the pitch and staff who are working hard to get things right.
"I see people supporting the club and trying to move it forward having obstacles put in their way.
"If I can pull this club together in my own way and give the players the best chance of a getting results and putting on performances, I will do it.
"Some people will ignore what I am saying, some will be bored by it and some might sit up and take notice.
"But that's how I feel."
Wilder is hoping to make one more signing ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline with Bradford City youngster Simon Ainge set to arrive at the Shay.
The 19-year-old central defender, who has made three substitute appearances for the Bantams, is expected to sign on loan until the end of the season.
