HALIFAX Town Football Club has been advertised for sale in the Financial Times.
The pink notice asked interested buyers to contact the administrators Begbies Traynor.
The club has debts of £1.1 million and has had 10 league points deducted for entering administration.
That has left it in danger of relegation to the Blue Square North League – which would see the Shaymen competing at the lowest level in their history.
A meeting in early May could then be held to approve a creditors' voluntary arrangement where the new owners would agree to pay off a percentage of debts.
Businessmen David Bosomworth and Bobby Ham, who have been part of a consortium running the club, have expressed an interest in buying the company.
If they are successful, it is likely a new company would be formed. That would mean all individuals and groups who have shares in Halifax Town would lose their shareholding.
The Halifax Town Supporters' Trust, which has over 150,000 shares, meets on Friday.
Spokesman Gavin Butler said: "All shareholdings will be wiped out. But the main aim is the survival of the club."
