Saturday spotlight: Phelan cannot wait to get back

THERE was plenty of frustration among Town fans at the New Year's Day clash at Harrogate Railway.
And there was just as much on the sidelines if Scott Phelan's views are anything to go by.
The former Bradford City midfielder was forced to sit out the game after suffering a pulled hamstring against Ossett Albion on Boxing Day.
And while he is unlikely to return until later this month, he was ready to pull on a shirt had he been allowed by the club's medical staff.
"If it had been up to me I would have played at Harrogate," he said. "But physio Alan Russell Cox says he can still feel something in there when he treats it.
"He's the expert and you have to listen to him, because he knows better than me.
"I knew as soon as I did it that it was a hamstring and that is never a good injury because you have to take your time recovering.
"The problem is that if you rush back you can make it worse."
While not wanting to rush anything, Phelan believes he can be back sooner than expected.
"Alan says it is a minimum of four to six weeks but I am aiming to be back in three," he said.
"It is horrible being out of the team and watching from the sidelines.
Thursday's game was the first Phelan had missed through injury since he made his debut as a substitute in the 7-1 demolition of Salford City in September.
"Even though it has only been a week it feels longer," he said.
"It is a nightmare having to watch your teammates especially in games like Thursday's when we are losing a game in which we should be doing better.
"There is enough quality in the squad so hopefully they will not miss me too much, but as soon as I am fit I will be battling to get my place back and do my best for the team.
"I have never really been injured before. I have had kicks and bruises but always been back the next game.
"It is how I react to it."
