TWO down, 28 to go - that was the message from Jim Vince after striker Ashley Stott opened his FC Halifax account with a double to help send them into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Stott gave the Shaymen a 25th-minute lead at Silsden with a great header and bagged a second from the penalty spot four minutes before half time to put them in control of the tie.
They were Stott's first goals for the Shaymen since arriving from League of Wales outfit Bangor City.
And manager Vince, whose side went on to win 3-1, revealed after the game that the frontman had been set a 30-goal target for the season.
"Ashley will get the goals," said Vince. "We have set him a target of 30 and he's got two now, so he's got 28 to go.
"The first goal was fantastic with the movement across the first defender.
"And he showed composure to stick the penalty away.
"People think it is easy, but it's not.
"He showed character, he wanted the ball and stuck it in the net.
"We need to get him sharper and we will do, but the potential is there."
While delighted with Stott's double, Vince picked out Jonathan Smith, the man who bagged Town's third goal with seven minutes remaining, for special praise.
"I think the one player who stood out last night technically, was Jonathan Smith," he said. "He was absolute class.
"He produced an overhead kick on the edge of the 18 yard box that showed how good he is."
Having failed to score in four of their opening five games, it was a relief to everyone that the Shaymen were finally able to find their touch in front of goal.
And the win has set up a trip to Northern League Ryton a week on Saturday in the first qualifying round of the competition.
"We knew the goals were going to happen, but the lads were under a bit of pressure," said Vince.
"We knew the quality was there, you would not have expected to have seen it on a surface like that.
"We scored three goals because the players wanted to win the game and showed passion, energy and enthusiasm.
"We know it is going to get better.
"We are trying to create something but it is going to take a little bit of time and I think we have all seen that.
"What we have lacked is a bit of aggression and ruthlessness. I think we showed it last night.
"In the first half we never lost a tackle, we were busy and we showed desire.
"They went out and made a statement on a horrible pitch.
"I was proud of the players and the fans should be as well.
"Silsden had a spell of 15 or 20 minutes in the second half. You will always get that away from home, but we coped with it.
"I think that over the two games we deserved to progress."
"You can win well and you can win ugly.
"I thought we played ugly last night but we were effective.
"I think everyone was happy."
Luke Hinsley made his first start for the Shaymen, operating down the left wing until he was finally substituted with four minutes remaining.
"He has got a great attitude and won't let us down," said Vince.
"I thought we needed endurance last night and he is an athlete.
"I was really pleased for him."
