Supporters' trust in fresh plea to consortium

THE Halifax Town Supporters' Trust is again writing to the consortium seeking clarification of its intentions.
"A further letter is going to be sent reminding it of our offer of help and to try and clarify its position regarding the future of the club," said Halifax Town Supporters' Trust spokesman Jonathon Monaghan.

"We feel communication with the consortium is vital as its current wall of silence is damaging the club and dividing supporters."

The trust board met on Sunday and decided against staging a public meeting until the consortium's position was known.

"However, if another supporters' group were to call a meeting the trust would certainly support it and help in any way it can," said Mr Monaghan.

The trust is continuing to work on its plan B for a fans' owned club should it be needed and late this week the board will know if its 230 members prefer that option or one with the consortium at the helm.

Allan Baker is the new trust chairman and Jack Haymer is the trust's club representative.

The interim appointments follow resignations and the trust will be holding its annual meeting at the end of this month.

Mickey Bullock,

Not quite sure 02/06/2008 10:29:38
Isn't it about time the hundreds of other genuine Shaymen supporters were invited to these 'meetings' - who are the 'supporters trust' anyway?

It all seems, i'm afraid to say it, very typical of events/matters surrounding HTFC - very cloak and dagger!

It is now June and we are no nearer to a solution than when all this caffuffle kicked off!

Invite ALL supporters to a meeting - not just a select few 'merry men'because there must surely be quite a few financially comfortable and one or two well off lifetime Shaymen supporters willing to put their hands in their pockets and kick start the new era!

Get a general meeting arranged asap and GET IT SORTED OUT, COME ON! - time waits for no man.

Vicroad (marksp) and other Job's comforters, no comments are required from you anymore on this matter so save your breath. You've had your say, now go away and do something worthwile!

Long live the Shaymen!

Mickey, I am a member of the trust but have never been involved at board level. It disappoints me that there are fans out there like yourself who don't know anything about the trust. The trust was set up after a public meeting the last time there was a finacial crisis and has I believe approx 230 members who elect a board to run its affairs. We are genuine fans of the club who only have the best interests of the club at heart and I like to think the board on behalf of the members has made its decisions with this ethos.

The club does not need individuals to put their money in the club it needs all the fans collectively to put in a small amount. Membership costs £12 a year and if all the 1000-1200 genuine hardcore fans joined the trust it would put enough money in place to allow the trust to easily set up and run the club properly on a not for profit basis with no business man looking for ways to cream off anything they can.

Check out the website HTST.org and also check out what is happening at Ebbsfleet on a much larger basis through MYFOOTBALLCLUB.co.uk to see how the ordinary fan can at last stop the business men ruining our football clubs and move our club forward to a point where we don't have these debates every few years and actually talk about football which after all is what we are all interested in anyway.

Rant and advertisement over lets all get behind the trust and watch some football whatever division we are in.

Mickey – in a nutshell the HTST are an important body.

All fans are able to join, which effectively let’s them have their say, and all board members are elected by Supporters Trust members.

They represent the supporters who wish to have a voice, and on the whole do a great job.

If the consortium leave us high and dry now, the HTST and it’s board members who haven’t deserted the ship, will be the ones who keep any hope of football in Halifax alive. A meeting of 1000+ supporters wouldn’t be productive. The HTST keep all the supporters fully informed of this action, and they deserve a great deal more credit.

Cloak n dagger…absolutely not.
