Woodley Sports v FC Halifax Town: Exciting times as Town bid to go top of the table

THESE are exciting times for FC Halifax Town who can climb to the top of the Unibond One North table if they win at Woodley Sports tomorrow.
With current leaders Ossett Albion not in action, the way is open for Jim Vince's side to take over at the summit if they can extend their current run to eight wins from nine games.
And despite a below par second half display against Mossley on Tuesday night, there is no reason to suggest that by tea time tomorrow they will not be sitting pretty.
Town will also have an eye on the other big game in the division when Newcastle Blue Star, who are fourth with games in hand, entertain Bamber Bridge.
Perhaps more importantly, two other challengers - Lancaster City and Clitheroe - will be expected to win their games at Salford and Warrington respectively.
That adds importance to Town's trip to Stockport where they will not only have to deal with the home side, but the artificial pitch.
Junior Brown has already said that the Shaymen should not have too many problems adapting.
And the fact that Vince is keen for his side to play a high tempo passing game means the surface should suit them.
Sadly, Town are likely to be without midfielder Damien Allen who suffered a hamstring injury early in Tuesday night's game.
But a flat, true pitch should suit the talents of his potential replacement Jon Smith.
And the attacking prowess of the likes of Cavell Coo on the right and Brown on the left ought to cause Woodley plenty of problems.
Woodley have won just twice on home soil so far this season - against Chorley and Trafford - while Newcastle and Ossett have both won comfortably there.
Crowd-wise it will be more like a home game with the travelling fans certain to outnumber the home support.
Woodley Sports average just 101 this season with a high of 120 against Newcastle and a low of just 64 against Ossett.
Given that Halifax supporters have regularly added 300 to the home gates of the opposition, the team will receive plenty of backing in their quest for top spot.
They will be expecting to return home with smiles on their faces.
