A State of Undress – twice in two days!
ROCKY, rootsy Dorset folk band State of Undress return to Calderdale next week following their performance at Luddenden Music Festival in the summer.
State of Undress will play at performance venue Q in the basement of the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on Wednesday and at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge, on Thursday, where local singer-songwriter Jonathan Taylor will play an opening set.
Jonathan has a new album out, called Partisan, and his songs have been praised by politician Tony Benn.
State of Undress, who started the year by supporting Dave Cousins of The Strawbs at London's Half Moon, Putney, are playing in Yorkshire as part of their first UK tour of arts centres, theatres and quirky music venues.
Charlie Rose, lead singer and one of the writers for the band, says: "We had a great time at Luddenden in the summer so we are really looking forward to coming back and playing at two of the area's most vibrant music venues. We are quite a theatrical band so it'll be great to have an opportunity to show the full range of what we do from mellow, thought-provoking songs to the shamelessly foot-tapping."
State of Undress are: Charlie Rose (lead vocals and percussion); Alan Rose (guitars and vocals); Samantha Jane (fiddle); Malcolm Windett (bass and electric upright bass) and Keith Fletcher (drums, African drum and congas).
They have produced a live CD, Caught in the Act!, and a single called Christmas 'Round Ours, which also includes the tracks Fairytale of New York and The Christmas Truce/Silent Night.
Tickets for State of Undress at Q are 12 and at the Trades Club 7.50 (concessions 5).
