And the beat goes on...

MORE Sixties nostalgia is due to swamp the stage of the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, as The Bootleg Beatles celebrate 30 years together.

Last weekend popular bands from the era had the audience on its feet with a Solid Silver '60s tour which celebrated its 25th anniversary.

On Saturday the four musicians billed as "the world's premier Beatles band" mark three decades of creating a tribute to the Fab Four with a welcome return to the Halifax theatre (8pm).

The sights and sounds of the Sixties will be brought to life with the Bootlegs' two-hour multi-media stage production featuring all the classic Beatles hits.

Using film footage of the period and with "a little help" from the regular brass and string ensemble the show traces the history of the Fab Four from Liverpool's Cavern Club through Sgt Pepper to The Apple Rooftop.

Formed from the West End cast of the Broadway musical Beatlemania, The Bootleg Beatles' career began at a now long-forgotten student bash in Tiverton, Devon on March 26, 1980 - almost 10 years to the day since Paul McCartney announced the originals had split.

Since becoming regulars on the festival circuit, The Bootlegs - Neil Harrison (John), Andre Barreau (George), David Catlin-Birch (Paul) and Hugo Degenhardt (Ringo) have played Wembley with Rod Stewart and Elton John, shared the bill with The Corrs, David Bowie and Iggy Pop and filled Tokyo's Budokan Hall in their own right.
