Let us hope Joan Ellison has a peaceful and happy 2009, if it is not too late to wish her it.
She is the lady we featured back in May when a couple of swaggering yobbos decided their idea of fun was to soak her in water – twice – and then post videos of their bullying on the You Tube website for all to see their humiliation of her.
It seems she was targeted because, uncomplicated soul that she is, she enjoys nothing more than to spend her days sitting on the wall outside the filling station in Boothtown, drinking coffee and waving to passing motorists.
Now Joan is saying she has no intention of letting the bullies put her off and she intends to be out sitting on the wall right through 2009, come rain or shine.
And to prove it she has already been out there during the recent cold snap, wrapped up in her coat and gloves.
She does nobody any harm and may bring a smile to a few faces. So we say: all power to her waving elbow.
