Civic pride abounds in Warley, where a new DVD will plot the evolution of the 300-strong hillside community through the 20th century.
Backed by Age Concern and the local community association, elderly residents will be interviewed about their memories of life there.
What a wonderful idea. One that preserves the identity of a small, largely independent community and at the same gives everyone a sense of kindred spirit.
It is so easy, living in the bigger conurbations, to lose the feeling of oneness with those around you.
And it is hardly surprising that given the choice most people would hightail it to the hills.
A fair few, no doubt, heading in the general direction of Warley.
