Double-header of free festival fun
ORGANISERS of two annual extravaganzas are hoping the sun shines on their efforts tomorrow as they aim to cheer up credit-crunched Calderdale folk.
Both events – the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade, which will wend its way through the town at 2pm, and the Luddenden Music Festival just a few minutes' drive away – are free for everyone to enjoy.
A range of workshops and art classes have been held in Hebden Bridge for adults, children, teenagers and families to learn how to make and create their costume, mask, puppet or banner for the parade or volunteer on a larger project led by a professional parade artist.

Organisers expect it to be even bigger and brighter than last year thanks to sponsorship and increased input from across the community.
Luddenden Music Festival kicks off at 11am and is a 12-hour feast of music for all tastes.
More than 20 artistes will share performance areas such as St Mary's Church and the Lord Nelson pub.
The eclectic mix of musical styles being showcased spans gospel (Three Valleys Gospel Choir), Moroccan (Maghribibeat), funky soul (Hollie Sheard and Friends), rock and roll (Raw Peaches) and everything in between.
School collaborations (Luddenden Dene School) are complemented by an organ recital (Alexander Binns) while many groups and soloists will take their vocal and songwriting talents to the event for the first time. The event is headlined with performances from Extra Curricular, Roger Davies and The Jam Factory.
"Luddfest" starts in St Mary's Church at 11am and finishes with the Rakish Paddies and an Irish songfest in the Lord Nelson.
Organiser and MC Mike Sharman says: "Luddfest offers outstanding value and, more importantly, a fantastic day out with the chance to meet friends old and new while enjoying the show."
To help with travel and ease parking problems, a free park and ride system will be in operation on the day from 12pm to 6pm.
