Grow yourself to health in 2014 with a piece of allotment land.

Pellon Allotments on Stretchgate Lane, Halifax, would like to let Courier readers know they have several plots available for rent.

Get back to basics with your own slice of nature and nutrition at Calderdale’s largest allotment site.

In addition to the allotments, the site boasts a wildlife garden, seated area, a discounted members shop and toilets.

Price of plots range from £25-£44 per year at the self-managed site.

Pellon Allotment secretary Dan Jagucki said: “This is a time of year when people are making new year resolutions to get more active and to eat healthier - this may be a good opportunity for people to eat healthier all year round and get fit.”

Former secretary and wife of present secretary Adele Jagucki said: “Getting out in the fresh air reduces anxiety and stress. There’s a great mix of nationalities - it’s a great way to meet new people and save a lot of money by growing your own organic produce rather than paying over the odds in the supermarkets.”

Allotments are becoming increasingly popular across the country.

Rod Mellor chairman for Calderdale Allotments and Leisure Gardeners Federation said in 2012, 600 people were on an allotment waiting list.
