Be a little minx with your nails
The latest fashion and beauty sensation taking celebrities by storm has just arrived in Calderdale. It's time to let your nails do the talking.
WOMEN the world over are following the lead of celebrities like Beyonce, Victoria Beckham and Christina Aguilera and turning into little minxes.
It's a fun term for a sexy, confident, naughty but fun individual who lives her life to the full, and the tradmark signature is your nails.
The latest nail fashion from sunny California comes from a company called Minx. It's where a flexible film is applied to your nails with ultra red heat. You can choose from shiny metallics, the season's hottest designs such as animal print, or even have your favourite photo on your talons.
The beauty is you can match your nails to your outfit and have fashion at your fingertips without having a conscience. Minx transfers are chemical free, and a healthy alternative to nail polish and other nail products. You simply peel them off after a few weeks and they don't damage the nail bed.
"All the A list celebrities have got Minx nails and because of this everyone wants them. They are different, dramatic, daring and look amazing. I have had lots of comments on mine," says nail technician Kate Inman, of Stainland, who has introduced them to Calderdale.
The 36-year-old mother of two got into nails 18 months ago after taking voluntary redundancy from HBOS where she worked for 19 years. She calls her company Pampered To Perfection and does mobile as well as work from home.
"I'm passionate about what I do and love to keep up with all the latest trends. The most popular Minx nails at the moment are the metallic and animal print ones," says Kate who puts them on the feet as well as the hands and has dozens of designs and colours for clients to choose from. They cost 19.
As well as offering all the latest nail treatments such as extensions, overlays, manicures and pedicures, Kate has two other sidelines that are proving to be a big hit also.
She does three-hour pamper parties where friends get together for a drink and a gossip and have their nails done at the same time.
And she has come up with a six to 12-week nail reconditioning programme called GROW (Goal, Reality, Options, Will) for nail biters which includes weekly treatments, support and advice. "I picked up a lot of life coaching skills working at the Halifax and this helps with this programme. I try to help individuals get to the bottom of why they bite their nails and give them the tools they need to break the habit."
Prices start at 105. Anyone who would like more details on the latest designer nails, parties or nail biting programmes can contact Kate on 01422 371429 or 07846 625892.
