Listen very carefully... 'Allo 'Allo set to bring laughs to Victoria Theatre
FRENCH fun and frolics come to Calderdale next week as the cast of 'Allo 'Allo defy you not to laugh out loud at the stage version of the hit BBC sitcom.
The show, from the producers behind the acclaimed 2 million box office success of Dad's Army – The Lost Episodes, will be staged at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, from Monday to Wednesday (7.30pm, with a Wednesday matinee at 2.30pm).
The 18-date national tour follows the World War Two adventures of hapless French caf owner Ren as he and his wife Edith struggle to hide a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis which is hidden in a sausage in their cellar.
Adding to Ren's woes, the French Resistance force him to aid their persistent attempts to return two bumbling British airmen to England. And at the same time he is trying to keep his long-running affairs with his two waitresses from his wife.
The show features a cast of 16 led by Hi-de-Hi's Jeffrey Holland, who takes on Gorden Kaye's TV role of Ren, and original TV series member Vicki Michelle, who dons her French waitress outfit once more in the role of Yvette Carte-Blanche.
The tour follows a special one-off episode marking the 25th anniversary of the show, released last year, entitled The Return of 'Allo 'Allo, in which several of the original cast were reunited to perform their roles. Vicki Michelle says the show has made audiences up and down the country laugh out loud, with some people ending up in tears of laughter.
