Long live the King!

TOP Elvis tribute act Shawn Klush will take to the stage at Huddersfield Town Hall tomorrow (7.30pm).

The man who BBC One named The World's Greatest Elvis in 2007, watched by 6.5 million viewers, has returned from the US to delight The King's West Yorkshire fans.

Vernon Kaye, who was named after Elvis's father, hosted BBC One's worldwide search for the greatest Elvis tribute artiste. A panel of experts including Suzi Quatro and Elvis's lifelong best friend Joe Esposito unanimously crowned American Shawn Klush as the world's closest match to The King.

On the back of his success, Shawn returned to the UK in August and played to thousands of fans at the Bolton Arena alongside Elvis's original band members The Sweet Inspirations and DJ Fontana.

The concert was a sell-out and tomorrow Shawn returns to England for one night only at Huddersfield Town Hall.

Shawn will be joined by the UK's Gordon Hendricks, who in 2005 won ITV's Stars in Their Eyes, smashing all previous records with almost 100,000 viewer votes. Also appearing is Welsh 18-year-old Jamie McDonnel-Roberts, who is fast becoming regarded as Europe's most sensational young Elvis. Both Gordon and Jamie also reached the grand finals of the BBC's World's Greatest Elvis competition.

Tickets (25 and 30) are available from Kirklees booking offices, tel: 01484 223200.
