These pupils of Sowerby Bridge High School set out in 1991 to watch a historic soccer match – the first game between the newly unified German team and England since 1938. The trip to Wembley was organised by games master Russell Lawrance for 48 pupils aged 13 to 17. He said: I wanted them to have the chance to see this match because it is a first. In the future it is something they will be able to look back on and remember actually being there.” Germany won 1-0.
