This photo of the football team of Parkinson Lane School, Halifax, in 1948-’49 was sent in my Michael Hunter (middle row, fourth from the left), of Heywood Court, Northowram, Halifax.
He writes: “Seeing Alan Parry’s photograph of Trinity School’s football team of 1948-9 in Nostalgia recently prompted me to submit a photo of Parkinson Lane School’s team of the same year. In comparison with Trinity’s rather smart playing strip Parkinson Lane’s consisted of black shorts, an old grey flannel shirt, boots (if you were lucky!) or old shoes.”
At the back, from the left, are Stuart Clough, Gerald Webster and Roger Booth. In the centre are Brian Biggin, Edward Pullan, Tony Schultz, Michael Hunter, Glyn Roberts and Henry Mason. In front are Alan Carter, Leslie Slide, Derek Oldfield, Geoffrey Dean and Gerald Smythe.
