Members of Todmorden Old Brass Band looked pretty pleased with themselves after claiming first place in three categories at a band competition in Whitehaven in 1994. They were also runners up in the top section at the Cumbrian Brass Band Association’s annual competition.

The musicians scooped £1,200 in prize money which was earmarked for competition expenses and the purchase of new instruments.

Band chairman Terry Luddington said: “The band is very pleased. We have been striving hard to gain recognition and we have set ourselves the goal of giving Todmorden a band it can be proud of.”
