Engineering firm steps in to help school
A Calderdale engineering company is top of the class with a school after rebuilding four of its 30-year-old lathes.
Halifax Numerical Controls Ltd of Holmfield Works, Shay Lane, Halifax, one of the UK's leading machine tool refurbishers and CNC control retrofitters, was set the task by Paul Mortimer, head of technology at Whitgift School, near Goole.
The lathes have not only been brought up to current safety standards and received a fresh coat of paint, they have been computerised too, kitted-out with advanced digital readout systems.
