WEBSITES are great for promoting a business, but if potential customers can't access them they are a waste of time.
Jamie Harrop, who is a former Sowerby school pupil, is helping businesses across the globe maximise their potential by showing them how to get their web address to the top of search engines through his company Equenity.
"We can help them get their web address to the top of any index to ensure they are at least seen by potential customers," he said.
"It's all about equality and identity."
And Jamie, who lives at Norton Towers, Halifax, wants to be ahead of the game and is excited about Web 2.0 that allows people to go on line through their TV screens, cutting out the need for a computer.
"The opportunities are endless," he said.
Jamie's enthusiasm grew when he was still at school but recognised he didn't want to work for anyone else.
"I did start my A-levels at Ryburn Valley High School but left after a year when I realised how interesting and exciting the web was," he said.
So far he's worked with companies as diverse as conservatory manufacturers and food retailers.
Equenity is registered in Ohio, in the US, where Jamie's business partner, Paul Hirsch, lives.
"There are three of us, Paul Riddick, the third partner lives in Middlesbrough, and we all bring different qualities to the business," he said. The web is constantly changing so it is invigorating to be able to work with like-minded people to grow our business and look for the next opportunity."
