Picture slideshow - Campbell the hat-trick heroManager Chris Wilder made as many changes as he could given the restraints of a 16-man squad.
And they paid dividends with Lewis Killeen, Danny Forrest, Steve Torpey and Ryan Toulson all making their mark in a performance unrecognisable from the previous two against Histon and Ebbsfleet.
But no matter how well the support cast played, Campbell was always going to grab the headlines after scoring twice before the break to put the Shaymen in charge and again in the second half from the penalty spot.
Quite correctly, no one will be getting carried away with what was only the first win at the fifth attempt.
But Droylsden were more of a threat than Histon had ever been and they had their chances.
They were terrified by the pace of Campbell down the middle, the guile of Killeen alongside him and were constantly under pressure down either flank from Forrest and Torpey.
And the bottom line is that you can only beat the opposition in front of you, something Halifax did with a swagger unseen before this term.
Steve Bushell, whose second half injury was the only blemish on an encouraging afternoon, had an early volley blocked and in the fifth minute the Shaymen went ahead following a Torpey cross.
Forrest was at the far post and fired the ball across the face of goal for Campbell to force home.
Killeen got on the end of a Forrest cross soon after, but could not get his shot on target and Forrest went himself from halfway only to fire a shot straight at Droylsden keeper Paul Phillips.
The chances kept coming with Torpey and Campbell combining before Killeen had a left foot shot saved by the keeper and Bushell fired over the top following good work by Killeen and Campbell.
Campbell doubled Town's advantage with 10 minutes of the first half remaining when he latched onto a superb ball round the corner from Killeen.
The big striker tried to take the ball round Phillips who got a touch, but he could only knock it against Campbell's legs and the ball rolled across the six yard area and into the net.
Droylsden had their first half opportunities as well with Chris Denham firing over the top from distance and Steve Daly lifting the ball over Craig Mawson - and the bar - after a moment's hesitation in the Town defence.
And they almost pulled one back early in the second half, but substitute Gavin Salmon was unable to get a proper connection with Robin Gibson's right wing cross.
After that, it was all Town, and the fact that they only scored one more goal was down to some impressive shot stopping from Phillips.
Campbell and Killeen both had chances before Town were awarded a 71st-minute penalty after Tom Kearney had been bundled over in the area by Jody Banim. Campbell quickly took hold of the ball and coolly fired home to the keeper's right.
Mawson held onto a Banim free kick a couple of minutes later as the Droylsden substitute looked to make amends.
But Town were in no mood to sit back on their lead and continued to wreak havoc in the visitors' defence.
Killeen and Torpey combined on the left before Kearney fired over from 15 yards. Then Jake Wright made a surging run down the left before finding Torpey whose cross was turned goalwards by Killeen.
Phillips blocked that one well, but it was a tame effort compared to one four minutes later from Anthony Griffith which saw the keeper leap to his left and beat out a 25-yarder with one hand.
Campbell might have added a fourth with five minutes remaining, but failed to hit the target from the edge of the area and he was denied a minute later following a great Griffith run.
There was still time for one last effort - and it was a cracker from Torpey who can hardly have believed it as Phillips managed to palm his effort away after Killeen had linked up with Darryn Stamp.
Star ShaymanHalifax Town hat-tricks are rare beasts and Andy Campbell has to have the three points on offer simply for bagging a treble.
But his overall contribution without the goals was outstanding yet again as he ran for everything in an impressive attacking display.
His strike partner Lewis Killeen will have been delighted by his return to the attack after a spell out wide.
He linked superbly with Campbell and his willing running turned a number of lost causes into real opportunities.
He claims the two points while the final one goes to Danny Forrest who, after a lean spell looked back to his best.
Poor old Liam Murray looked concerned whenever the former Bradford City man had the ball at his feet - and he was right to as Forrest gave a fine display of wing play.
