HALIFAX made it two wins out of two in the Co operative Championship after edging out Batley 34-24 at Mount Pleasant.
Fax led 30-6 at the break, with two tries from prop Dominic Maloney and further touchdowns from Luke Branighan, David Wrench and Shad Royston plus four conversions and a long range penalty from Lee Paterson.

Branighan stretched their lead to 34-6 early in the second period, before Batley hit back with scores from Ash Lindsay and Johnny Campbell (2).

But Fax held on to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Well done Fax despite 'look at me' Laughton - kept the dogs in the game.

2* Agreed...said yesterday it would be a scrappy game...ref gave far too many penalties even though both sides where in the wrong on numerous occasions...on the plus side that's two wins out of two out of two games we lost last season!...will need a big improvement next week in defence...Up the Fax!!

Unusualy I thought Laughton didn't have a bad first half but he certainly made up for it in the second. He really is just about the worst ref in this league, he deserves to be promoted to Super League so everybody can see how poor he is. Saying that though Fax hung in well, Batley were always going to throw the kitchen sink at us in the second half. Well done lads.

Laughton was once a super league ref, no longer. Easy to see why. The Batley supporters were also disgusted with him. Supporters of the winning team don't usually have many complaints about the ref. Goes to show how bad he is. He just about failed to ruin the game as a spectacle, he'll try harder next time. Batley fought hard, they beat Barrow last year on the day we had off at Gateshead.

    Good point #3.
Sign of a good side is one that grinds out the wins even though they arent playing to full potential-we have started slower this year for sure but I like the fact we have a bit of grunt up front this year which we are going to need against the likes of Barrow and Widnes.
My heart sank when I saw Laughton was the ref -he is awful.
Wish we could get Nash fit as we lack punch in the middle of the backline.
Big test next week at Widnes as we were dreadful over there last time!

7* Agreed we seem to lack that spark in the middle..last night we had Penky, Black, Beswick and Branighan on at the same time...if they click we should have far too much speed and skill for any team..some of Black passes last night to the wing where brilliant...just need to make sure that we have somebody running on to it...has anybody heard anything on Hayley? went off with hamstring problems last night...
