CHRIS Wilder has cast a major doubt over his future as manager of Halifax Town following their demotion from the Blue Square Premier.
The Shaymen have transfer-listed all eight remaining contracted players and are asking fees for Darryn Stamp, Adam Quinn, Jon Shaw, Tom Kearney and Nathan Joynes.

Thomas Harban, Daryl Taylor and Craig Mawson have been told they can leave on free transfers.

And while Wilder would not confirm that he will follow the players out of the door after the club was placed in Unibond League Division One North for next season, he has given the biggest hint yet that he will also leave.

"My future will have to be resolved in the next week or so," said Wilder who was appointed manager in the summer of 2002. "I am in the same boat as the contracted players.

"When I took over six years ago I had not envisaged the club being in the Unibond League."

Wilder was clearly stunned by the news that the Shaymen would be playing Unibond League football next season.

And he said he felt the punishment had been extremely harsh on the club.

"It is nothing short of disastrous for everybody," said Wilder. "After all the hard work that has been put in over the past six years, it seems very unjust.

"I know more than anyone that the club has not overspent and has not been involved in anything underhand.

"But we have always tried to be as competitive as possible on the pitch.

"For us to be relegated three leagues for something that happened seven or eight years ago is devastating."

Next season's UniBond League fixtures are expected to be announced early next month.

The league have to take into account requests from other clubs in the area and those teams who groundshare with clubs from a higher division or rugby clubs who have preference.

Well, I see that the Cambridge job is again up for grabs...maybe Chris will end up there after all...anyway, I hope that he stays as he had a great record with Alfreton before he came to Town...however, I understand that he, like the players has ambitions above that level.

Wherever or whenever the rot set in most Town fans know which Individuals are to blame for the clubs latest demise.Less than a decade ago The Shaymen were on the crest of a wave under George Mullhall. For some unknown reason the same man that got the club relegated out of the league in the first place was allowed back. The rest is History.

Chris Wilder should be as loyal to his present employers has they have been to him. Over the last months he has been paid, so show us how you can lift a team from the demotion to consecutive promotions and earn the money you get!
