HALIFAX'S away side produced their best result in 19 years of Yorkshire Veterans Inter District League action to pave the way for a 296-260 win over Wakefield which earned them 34 points to their opponents' 22.
Thornes Lane proved a happy hunting ground, Halifax having six of the eight winners for the first time.
Debutant Clifford White from Oxenhope BC pulled out all the stops with a 21-3 success and John Hamer, Peter Collins, Russell Thornber, Tony Woo
d and David Warburton were also successful to produce an historic scoreline.
Although Kevin Gibson and Fred Pearce were beaten, they both played a part as Halifax took 21 points to their hosts' seven.
Halifax's home side were unable to repeat their heroics of a fortnight earlier on their return to Mytholmroyd BC, where they had beaten a determined Skipton outfit by one point.
In another close contest they went down by three chalks, but the overall match result was Halifax's best of the season and they will look to keep up the good work against West Riding on Friday (1.30).
