A HEAVY defeat by West Riding in their opening match consigned Halifax to an early exit in the Yorkshire inter-district one day competition sponsored by Skipton Building Society at Castleford.
Halifax went down 196-158 and although they hit back in fine style with a 183-166 victory over East Coast in their other group match at Frystone Welfare, the damage had already been done.

West Riding crushed East Coast in the third match in group
A and went on to beat Huddersfield in a semi-final thriller by 186-185, only to lose to hosts Castleford by 180-170 in the final.

Mark Regan won both his matches for Halifax while James Senior suffered the heaviest defeat before recording the side's biggest win - both 21-8 scorelines - in his two contests.
