TOWN loan signing Ritchie Sutton may have played the majority of his senior games as a full back, but Jim Vince regards him as more of a centre back.
Sutton's debut for Halifax was delayed when Saturday's Unibond One North clash with Trafford fell foul of a frozen Shay pitch.
But when he does appear in a Town shirt it is almost certain to be in the centre of defence rather than out wide.
"I have known Ritchie for a few years," said Vince, who moved into the loan market with three centre backs - Lincoln Adams, Tony Barras and Steve Payne - sidelined.
"I knew him at Crewe where he did well and was highly thought of.
"Stafford Rangers played him at right back but for me he is a centre half."
The 22-year-old, who is on a month's loan from Northwich, made 78 Blue Square Premier appearances for Stafford Rangers, including two at the Shay - a defeat and a draw.
He played four times for the Vics in August after joining them in the summer, but has been out of favour since then.
"Ritchie is an athlete," said Vince. "He is quick, he is good in the air and he is strong in the tackle.
"We are fortunate to have him playing for us.
"His name was circulated earlier in the season by Northwich, which suggests he might be a little way down the pecking order there.
"We contacted the club and spoke to him and he jumped at the chance.
"And by having him here it will give Steve Payne time to recover fully."
Vince added that he was grateful to chairman David Bosomworth and the board for allowing him to bring in another player.
"Full credit goes to the chairman and directors because no one has left the club," said Vince.
"They have seen we are a little sparse in the centre of defence and allowed this to happen."
Saturday's game was called off soon after 11am with no chance of the pitch thawing.
"It was disappointing because we were looking forward to the game," said Vince. "But the ground was frozen and there was not a lot anyone could do about that."
Town dropped a place in the Unibond One North table due to Ossett Albion's 2-1 win over Radcliffe Borough.
Leaders Bamber Bridge and second-placed Lancaster City were also thwarted by the weather.
Durham City looked to be heading for their first defeat of the season when they trailed Mossley 4-0 only for the game to be abandoned five minutes before the break.
