Halifax travel to play the Wetherby League in a 40 overs per side game at Walton CC (2.30) but Bradshaw's Cotton estimates that only seven of the original 17-man squad have stood their ground for a contest in which bowlers have a maximum of eight overs.
Mytholmroyd trio Tom Earle, Jon Lord and Paul Senior are playing for their club against Woodlands in the Yorkshire Black Sheep Champions Trophy game and Cotton said the Parish Cup programme carried over to last weekend and family commitments had take
n their toll.
"It a bit disappointing after last year's success but there are no mugs in our team and we'll do our best."
Much will be expected of classy batsman Jamie Summerscales and last year's 1,000-run man Carl Fletcher, who is one of three Triangle players in a side managed by that club's first team skipper Roger Smith.
Halifax beat Nidderdale in the final of last year's competition at Triangle with a man of the match display from Senior and a good knock from Oxenhope's Shaun Humphreys.
HALIFAX LEAGUE: Wayne Cotton and Steve Beck (both Bradshaw), Jamie Summerscales (SBCI), Richard Laycock (Booth), Carl Fletcher, Nathan Cavalier and Kurtis Whippey (all Triangle), Craig Taylor (Blackley), Steve Priestley, Richard Turner and Chris Goulden (all Copley).
Players are asked to arrive at Walton CC by 1.30.
Walton CC is a large, flat ground in beautiful surroundings, and can be reached by taking the M62, then the M1 north to the A661 turn off for Wetherby. From the roundabout turn right signed Walton and Thorpe Arch, two miles on the left turn into School Lane signed Walton. At the end of School lane turn left and the ground is half a mile on the right.
Whitkirk trip for under 17s
PLAYERS from eight clubs will represent Halifax in the Joe Lumb under 17s competition against Leeds at Whitkirk CC on Sunday (1.0).
It should have been Halifax's second game of the campaign but last week's match away to Wetherby was called off because of the restaging of the Parish Cup from the weekend before.
Team boss Ken Campbell is still waiting to hear from competition chiefs whether the game will be reorganised.
Halifax are without Niall Lockley and Alex Lees, who are in cup action for Illingworth on Sunday, while Northowram HT's Richard Moore is studying for an exam on Monday.
Moore will be captain and Lockley vice-captain in due course so a stand-in skipper will be needed for Sunday.
HALIFAX: A.Stocks and S.Gardner (both Northowram HT), S.Harris and J.Earle (both Mytholmroyd), C.Atkinson and J.Cooper (both Warley), S.Griffiths and T.Bellfield (both Southowram), D.Finn (Lightcliffe), C.Chew (Copley), A.Rowles (Rastrick), T.Greenwood (Copley).
