TWO sides who narrowly failed to reach this year's Parish Cup final at Copley in eight days' time will be seeking compensation in another form of knockout cricket tomorrow.
Beaten semi-finalists Blackley and Mytholmroyd are through to the last four of the Twenty/20 Competition sponsored by Roy's Balloons at Triangle.
Blackley, who lost at SBCI in the cup, take on fellow Division One title contenders Jer Lane in the first semi-final at 11.0.
'Royd will be returning to the scene of their recent cup semi-final defeat. This time it will be Northowram Hedge Top and not Triangle who lie in wait for last year's double winners at 2.0.
The four teams in action at Triangle all topped their qualifying groups.
Mytholmroyd came through he only five-team section - the other groups had four teams - while Blackley edged out tomorrow's hosts, who were somewhat disgruntled not to have made the finals in spite of an unbeaten record.
Triangle is tailor made for Twenty/20 cricket. The club's facilities are excellent, the valley-bottom ground can be a real suntrap and the spectators are close to the action.
Blackley have already beaten Jer Lane in the league this season with the rematch at Blackley next Saturday. Jer Lane will believe this type of cricket particularly suits their powerful hitters, such as Jason Gelder and Johnny Lister, while Blackley will be hoping successful bowlers Tom Greenwood and James Watson can make early inroads .
Mytholmroyd and Northowram will be meeting for the second time in two days after a Premier Division clash at 'Royd today.
'Royd have named a large squad which includes twice Parish Cup final man of the match Zeb Mahmood while Northowram's mixture of youth and experience includes promising pair Richard Moore and Adam Stocks.
