Cricket: Under 21 and 17 matches called off
THE re-arrangement of the entire Parish Cup and Crossley Shield first round for Sunday has caused havoc for two of the league's representative sides.
Officials felt it was unfair to try to force players to turn their backs on their club sides so Halifax have been forced to concede the White Rose Trophy tie against the Bradford League at Lightcliffe and the Joe Lumb team's opener against Wetherby at Barwick in Elmet is also off.
The under 21s side will now play in the plate competition of the White Rose Trophy while organisers of the Joe Lumb, which is run as a league, hope to rearrange the Wetherby fixture for late June or August.
The under 17 side's opening match will now be against Leeds at Whitkirk CC on Sunday week.
Clubs are requested to ensure that Parish Cup scoresheets are submitted to Courier Sport on Sunday evening.
Standings in the Courier Sport/Briggs Priestley Engravers awards competitions will appear next Friday
