The event, promoted by well known fell race organiser and veteran cyclist Allan Greenwood of Ainley Top, was designed to get childern involved in cycling in a safe environment. It took place at Whitechapel Middle School and proved a great success.
More than 100 riders of all ages, ranging from the youngest competitor, four-year-old Elliot Emery-Greenwood of Bradford to the oldest, Peter Milsom, 70, of Wakefield's Calder Clarion club, battled through the muddy mire around the perimeter of the school playing fields.
"We held races for under 14s and under 16s, followed by the under 12s and then the seniors, women and veterans races took place," said Greenwood.
"There were more than 40 children under 12 on the course, loving every minute of it."
The senior race was won by Bradford Olympic star Robert Thackray who took the lead at around the halfway stage after a fierce battle with Keighley's Robin Bradbury.
Top Calder Valley fell runner Karl Gray swapped a pair of trainers for two wheels to finish in 13th place from a field of more than 50 senior riders.
Halifax's Andy Marshall, who rides for Brighouse based VS Cycles, finished 16th, with Greenwood 38th, Fred Rothwell of Sowerby Bridge 45th and Brighouse based Condor RC's Steven Cavell in 46th place.
The event was sponsored by former professional road cyclist Bernie Burns of Aire Valley Cycles with proceeds to the British Red Cross.
