Two goals from James Dean, after Steve Payne had
fired them in front, saw them move to within eight points of leaders Colwyn Bay with four games in hand.

And manager Neil Aspin was delighted with his side's response to their first league loss of the campaign.

"I think that was probably the most comfortable win we have had at home this season," he said.

"We got three but it could have been four or five by half time.

"I was pleased by the number of chances we made but would have liked us to have been more clinical.

"Until you get the third goal, the game is never won.

"I have been in the game a long time and played a lot of football and if the opposition gets back to 2-1 it changes the course of the game.

"At 3-0 it was all over and we should have reached that point a lot earlier than we did.

"Give credit to the players because even after one defeat you feel under a bit of pressure and they responded well."

Town picked up the points despite losing central defender and skipper Ryan Crossley before the game with a back problem.

James Riley partnered Payne in the centre of defence and Aspin was delighted with his contribution.

"Everyone knows that Ryan Crossley has suffered with his back over the years and hopefully it is not too severe," said Aspin.

"But I must give credit to James Riley. If a forward does something it's great or a midfielder threads a pass, but me being a defender I love lads who put their head in, come and win balls and be strong and aggressive.

"James did that well last night and I know I can rely on him.

"Sometimes, because we have changed formation, he might have been a player who has missed out.

"But I have a lot of respect for him and he doesn't let anyone down."

While Dean was taking his goal tally for the season to 19, Richard Marshall remains stuck on 11 after his run of matches without netting stretched to eight games.

But he had a hand in both of Dean's goals and continues to make a telling contribution to the team effort.

"A couple of times I have questioned whether I should leave him out," said Aspin.

"But I have always said that if players work hard and they do the business, I don't have a problem.

"He is going though a lean spell, but he deserved a goal last night. He looked sharper and if he keeps doing that, the goals will come."
