FC Halifax Town: Striker can't wait to start

ASHLEY Stott's job is to score goals - and the FC Halifax Town frontman is ready to go to work.
The 20-year-old former Preston North End trainee only arrived at the Shay from League of Wales outfit Bangor City last week.
But he is looking to hit the ground running when the Unibond League Division One North campaign kicks off at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday.
"My job is to bang in the goals and that's what I hope to do," said Stott, who bagged 30 goals in 59 starts for Bangor.
"We are going to try to re-write history.
"It is a fresh start for everyone from the board of directors to the manager and the players.
"It is a new team from top to bottom.
"The club has brought me in so it is up to me to repay them on the pitch."
Despite not having been with Town for the majority of pre-season, Stott sees no reason why the team cannot get their season off to the best possible start at the weekend.
"We believe we are going to win the league," he said. "We are a confident squad, we are ready and Saturday should be no different to any other game.
"We are looking to collect three points and push on from there.
"We have to prove to the fans and everyone out there that we are ready to do business this year."
"I came in as a stranger and within two days I felt part of the family.
Despite having two very successful seasons at Bangor, where he helped the club win the Welsh Cup, Manchester-born Stott had expressed a desire to move closer to home.
And once he got wind of Jim Vince's interest he was keen to tie up a deal as quickly as possible.
"It was nothing to do with Bangor City," said Stott, who played against Danish side FC Midjytlland in the UEFA Cup earlier this season.
"Halifax got in touch with Bangor and expressed their interest.
"I spoke to the chairman and told him of my desire to come here.
"It was nothing against Bangor City.
"I am closer to home, there will be less travelling and I want to try myself in a different league."
