TOWN boss Jim Vince has urged his Unibond One North leaders to be relentless in their pursuit of points as they close in on a winning run record against Chorley at the Shay tomorrow (3.0).
Only once before has a Halifax side won seven successive league games - back in February and March 1964 - but the class of 2008 will equal that run if they can beat the Magpies.
And Vince is hoping that his side can equal the 44-year-old mark with an improved display in front of the home fans.
"Records are there to be broken but the most important thing is not the record, but the win," he said. "We have to be strong and to be relentless. The best thing we can do is win games.
"Then, on a Saturday night, the rest of the teams in the league will see that we have won again.
"The team that wins this league will have to have a steely determination and win, irrespective of performances.
"We strive to give high performances, but we cannot do it every time we play.
"I don't think we have played that well in the last few games, but we have done okay.
"When you do not play well and you win it shows you are resilient.
"We have shown that over the last six weeks, now we have to kick on."
Chorley go into the game in 17th place without a win in their last four league games.
But Vince will be taking nothing for granted against a side that has draws with Mossley and Newcastle Blue Star under their belts this season.
"Chorley have had some mixed results, but don't get beaten by many goals so we will have to be right," he said.
Vince admitted that selection for tomorrow's game was not straightforward after a couple of fringe squad players impressed against Sheffield in midweek.
And while it is likely that Junior Brown, Paul Gedman, Jon Kennedy, Danny Meadowcroft and Scott Phelan will all return to the starting line up, he will delay naming his side until close to kick off.
"A couple of the lads who came into the side on Tuesday did well," he said. "That is good because it keeps everyone on their toes.
"We will not necessarily return to the side that won last weekend."
