TOWN fans have got used to seeing Ritchie Sutton in the centre of defence - on Tuesday he played the full 90 minutes in central midfield.
And while it the two roles are completely different, the former Northwich Victoria man is happy to play either.
"It is a different role in midfield, but I enjoy it," he said. "I like to get forward.
"The Gaffer told me to make a nuisance of myself and use my energy to get up and down.
"I was asked to stay with Dave Hanlon because he was getting plenty of the ball and I'd like to think I did a half decent job."
His job was made tougher by the extraordinary conditions which left the pitch virtually unplayable.
Driving rain made things uncomfortable for everyone but the Shaymen dug in to get the result.
"It was difficult first half with the wind, in the second half it was just a guessing game as to where the ball was going to end up," he said.
"I have played in similar conditions but when you are at the back you can see everything in front of you.
"When you are in midfield you don't know where the challenges are coming from so it is really hard."
Sutton certainly played his part with a thunderbolt strike that proved to be the winner at Shawbridge.
"Their guy was closing me down and I just thought that if I bent it with enough power it would go in," he said.
"Luckily it flew into the top corner."
Having arrested their recent slide, Town return to the Shay this afternoon against Lancaster City.
And Sutton knows that they have to back up their midweek win with another three points.
"It was an important win on Tuesday," he said. "I understand the fans weren't happy after the performance at Newcastle so it was vital to get the win under our belts.
"Now we have to back that up with another win against Lancaster City."
