WHEN Town played at Radcliffe Borough a little under three weeks ago it appeared to be another in a recent series of typically frustrating performances.
They had dominated the early stages but went behind to the first Borough shot on goal.
Then up stepped Tom Baker to volley home a spectacular equaliser and spark a revival.
Paul Collins bagged a second before the break with strikers Ashley Stott and Paul Gedman both on target in the second period, the latter from a great side foot volley after a fine move.
Sadly for the Shaymen, the revival in the match was not echoed in the games that followed as they were forced to come from behind to draw with Ossett Albion and crashed to defeat at Harrogate Railway.
But despite being far from convincing against Wakefield in last weekend's 3-2 win Halifax are now three points clear at the top of the Unibond One North table.
And a repeat of the result at Stainton Park on December 20 would do them very nicely indeed.
While the team struggled to find top gear last weekend, it was a good afternoon for Nigel Jemson who bagged a second half double before leaving the field to a standing ovation with 15 minutes remaining.
It was his third goal over Christmas, having moved up from the back to level against Ossett, and took his tally for the season to seven - not a bad total from 12 starts, most of which have come as a sweeper.
Since they last faced Town, Radcliffe have managed just a couple of games.
The first was a 3-2 win over Premier Division Leigh Genesis in a Lancashire Challenge Trophy clash with former Shay striker Ian Fitzpatrick bagging a double.
In their only league game, on Boxing Day, they were beaten 3-1 at home by Rossendale despite taking the lead early in the first half.
Borough are currently fourth from bottom in the league with only Harrogate Railway, Warrington Town and doomed Salford City below them.
It is the perfect chance for Town to record back-to-back league wins for the first time since the middle of November.
And with games against Salford (away), Garforth Town (home), Wakefield (away) and Harrogate Railway (home) coming up in the following four weekends, it is an opportunity to put the sort of run together that will apply pressure to those sides who have games in hand - and there are a few of them.
