FC Halifax Town v Radcliffe Borough: Damien keen to get off the mark

DAMIEN Allen is a player who has really caught the eye since arriving at the Shay at the beginning of October.
The former Stockport County and Morecambe man made his debut in the dramatic 2-2 comeback draw at Garforth and quickly established himself as a first team regular.
He sat out a month with a hamstring injury before returning to action and is now back to his best.
But he has yet to open his scoring account with the Shaymen and that is something he is keen to put right as soon as possible.
"I cannot believe it," he said, "I could have had about nine goals so far this season.
"At the moment it is just not going in the back of the net for me.
"But I will keep getting into the right positions and put one in. I am just waiting for the first one."
Allen had a great chance to get off the mark late on in last weekend's 3-2 win over Wakefield at the Shay.
But he pulled his shot from the penalty spot narrowly wide of the target in the closing minutes.
It did not matter in the end as the Shaymen beat the 10-man visitors.
"It was a massive win," said Allen. "I had said before the game that it was a must win.
"Luckily we were able to get the points.
"Wakefield were a well organised team who played well when they went down to 10 men.
"Having a man sent off meant that they sat back to defend and get a draw.
"We showed the patience that we had and when we broke through I thought we would score more goals."
Having returned to winning ways last weekend, Allen is looking for the Shaymen to double up when they entertain Radcliffe Borough, who they beat 4-1 at Stainton Park before Christmas, this afternoon.
"We had a good win a few weeks ago against Radcliffe but let ourselves down again the week after.
"Now we have to do the same every week.
"We have to work hard, we cannot become complacent and think we are going to go out and win."
