And that could mean a second successive start for assistant manager Nigel Jemson in the Town attack against the North West Counties Premier Division outfit.

Proffitt was unable to convince Vince that he was worth persevering with after failing to impress in the opening four games.

"I gave Dorryl an opportunity to play for us," said Vince.

"But he did not play to the standards I expected.

"I have always said that the squad would change as the season went on.

"Six weeks ago we didn't have a team. Now the team is changing and it is getting better. It will continue to change until it is right.

"I am not here to make friends, I am here to take this club forward and one or two players need to buck up their ideas."

Proffitt's departure means at least one change will be made to the side that played out a goalless draw with Durham on Monday.

Vince had intended to partner Jemson with Ashley Stott in attack last time out before Stott pulled out with a foot injury sustained at Lancaster.

And he has Neil Ross - a second half substitute against City - to come back into the side but, with Ryan Sugden still 10 days or so away from returning, his striking options are limited.

"We are hoping Ashley will be available," said Vince. "But the decision is bigger than one game.

"If he is fit he will be in line to play.

"Nigel took his opportunity on Monday and everyone who saw him was impressed.
"He has not come here as a player but he is someone who can be of benefit on and off the pitch."

While Town go into tomorrow's game as favourites, Vince is aware of the threat Silsden pose.

"What have Silsden got to lose?" he asked. "Nothing. And that makes a team dangerous irrespective of the standard they play at.
"The way I look at it is that if we play to the level we are capable of we will beat them. But I won't be taking anything for granted - and nor will the players.

"We will be expected to roll Silsden over, but that won't happen and, until we reach the levels I want us to I would take a 1-0 win."
As for the emphasis Vince is placing on the premier knockout competition, there is little doubt he wants to make progress.

"Who doesn't want to do well in the FA Cup?" said Vince. "There is money to be earned from the competition and players can become famous for their efforts.

"I am looking forward to the challenge."
