TOWN will underestimate Woodley Sports at their peril tomorrow afternoon.
The Stockport-based outfit may be one of the smallest clubs in the Unibond One North - they average just 131 for home games despite a visit from the Shaymen earlier in the campaign - but they have shown this season that they are no mugs.
And their 3-2 win at Clitheroe in midweek was their fifth victory on the road this term.
They have also emerged with the points from trips to Bamber Bridge, Lancaster City, Ossett Albion and Wakefield, proving they can play away from their plastic home pitch.
They drew last Sunday at Newcastle Blue Star and 24 hours earlier beat Harrogate Railway 2-1 on home 'soil'.
And that makes them dangerous opponents as Jim Vince's side look for back to back wins in their bid to maintain the pressure on leaders Durham City.
All things being equal, Town should romp to another maximum haul at the Shay before heading off to Newcastle the week after.
But as everyone saw on Tuesday night, it all depends on which Halifax side turns up.
The one that swept Harrogate Railway aside with ease in the opening 45 minutes would have few problems.
The one that struggled to maintain that form after the break could well struggle.
There is also the problem of injuries to contend with as Vince looks to patch up his side again.
Three of the side that won 3-2 at Woodley in November - Scott Phelan, Paul Gedman and Danny Meadowcroft - are out injured.
And a further three - Kris King, Jon Smith and Danny Ellis - have left the club.
But Ashley Stott will have good memories of his trip to Greater Manchester where he bagged two of the Shaymen's three goals.
With Durham expected to pick up maximum points from their home game, and Colwyn Bay at home to Lancaster looking to extend their recent run to 10 victories from 11 matches, it is vital that the Shaymen also win tomorrow.
They have lost just once in their last 10 outings but they have drawn four times, including costly dropped points against Warrington and Radcliffe Borough.
There can be no slip ups tomorrow.
