THE Premier Division's last unbeaten record, held by Ryburn United, perished in an 11-goal thriller away to Hebden Royd Red Star on Saturday.
A late goal from Dean Lewis gave Red Star a 6-5 success against a battling Ryburn side who had refused to give in despite being reduced to 10 men when 5-3 down.
Star took the lead inside five minutes when Tom Earle's goal kick was missed by Adam Sharp in the Ryburn defence and Ryan Thomas ran through and volleyed home over Dan Jennings in the Ryburn goal.
Liam O'Neill quickly levelled matters from the edge of the box and Ryburn went 2-1 up when keeper Earle was beaten after a quickly taken free kick.
Thomas made it 2-2 with his second from the edge of the box and he then rounded the keeper and squared for Nick Spence to tap in.
Thomas completed a first half hat-trick when the ball held up in the mud and he beat Jennings to it, tapping into an empty net to give Star a 4-2 lead.
The home side started the second half the better and Lewis give them what appeared to be a winning 5-2 lead. However, Ryburn pulled a goal back and the 10-man visitors got on terms with a quick Jason Tiplady double entering the last five minutes, only for Lewis to rifle home from Star's last attack.
Elland United moved eight points clear at the top when they beat visitors Midgley United 5-2 and second-placed Greetland, their conquerors the previous weekend, had their game away to Calder '76 postponed.
It took Elland some time to get on top in the mud at Carr Green but three goals in 15 minutes in the second quarter put them in control.
An own goal set them on their way, Mark Heppenstall's shot ricocheting in off a defender.
Elland added to their tally with a well crafted goal, Andrew Moss and Scott Campbell helping to set up right back Josh Prestige, who burst into the box and fired home.
Moss's low 20-yard free-kick added to Midgley's problems and the visitors missed a chance to get back in the game when Craig Steele saved a 55th minute penalty.
Seconds later Heppenstall cashed in on good work from Amos to make it 4-0 and although George Bamford opened Midgley's account, Mark Kelsey rounded a defender and slotted the ball home for 5-1.
Darren Nelson had the last word for Midgley with five minutes left.
The other two games in the top flight had 2-1 scorelines with Halifax Irish Centre bagging a first league win, against Siddal Athletic, to move off the bottom and Warley Rangers climbing to sixth with success away to Shelf United.
Two goals from star man Michael Gregory finally got Irish off the mark.
He was on target after 20 and 70 minutes with Matthew Maslak replying for Siddal just before half time directly from a corner.
Skipper Fraser Swarbruck, young right back Callum Cook, keeper Joseph O'Dowd and emergency striker Josh Nolan all did well for Irish, who would have had more goals but for efforts of keeper Chris Arnold, who was Siddal's man of the match.
Warley maintained their good recent form with a hard fought win.
Playing down the slope at Shelf Park, many of their through balls skidded off the wet surface to keeper Jimmy Denton while centre backs Lee Wharton and Rio Smith coped comfortably at the other end.
Joe Fritzl, sent on early following an injury to Matt Bodkin, showed up well in midfield for Warley, who got their noses in front when a corner was headed goalwards by Johnny Burston and Andrew Hudson made sure.
Dave Maguire's 30-yard lob was ruled out for offside while Ian Carradice made good saves to ensure Warley turned round in front.
Shelf applied constant pressure and Warley's resistance was finally broken with 15 minutes to go when Craig Reidy was adjudged to have pulled down the dangerous Billy Grogan, who slammed home the penalty.
The game looked to be heading for stalemate until man of the match Reidy found Hudson on the left and he crossed for Maguire to volley in.
