BRIGHOUSE Town Reserves boss Mark Booth sang his side's praises after a hat-trick from substitute Jordan Pettifor helped his side clinched a second piece of silverware on Tuesday night.
Pettifor's second and third goals in the second period of extra time helped the West Riding County Amateur League Division Two champions bank the league cup as well, the Hove Edge outfit beating Storthes Hall Reserves 4-2 at Lower Hopton's Woodend Ro
ad ground on Tuesday evening.
A delighted Booth said: "It's a great end to a long, hard season and to win the double with what is probably the youngest side in the division is absolutely brilliant, I'm very proud of all of them."
Town never really got to grips with Storthes Hall, who finished fifth in the league, in the first half. Defences were on top and too often Town chose the long ball, playing into the hands of the much taller Storthes Hall defenders.
Town went a goal behind after 30 minutes when a cross to the back post was drilled home, the effort giving keeper Jason Kirby no chance.
With half time approaching Town began to get the ball down and play with Matty Roy and Jason Tiplady causing Hall's defence problems.
And Brighouse played with more purpose and drive in the second half, full backs Sean Kirby and Danny Brooks coming more into the game.
The introduction of Pettifor made the difference, his aggressive running unsettling Hall's centre backs. Town clawed their way back into the game when a Roy corner was powered home by Pettifor with a great header.
Town were now well on top but Hall were still capable of causing problems, keeping centre backs Darren Rudd and Matthew Whitley on their toes.
It remained stalemate until seven minutes into extra time when Tiplady picked up a nice Glen Hall pass and rolled the ball in the far corner.
Sadly, a mishit shot then deceived Kirby to pull Hall level just before the half time break.
But Town got their noses back in front when livewire Tiplady raced clear and his shot was well saved but the ball fell nicely to Pettifor, who drove home from 20 yards with another great finish.
The young forward hadn't finished yet, taking advantage of a flat-footed defence to race clear and put the game beyond Hall with another great finish.
