A GROUP of Halifax's biggest football fans will miss the new club's first-ever game at Tamworth tomorrow because they are playing at a tournament in Leeds.
Supporters team AFC Halifax will be among 64 sides taking part in the WorldNET 2008 competition at Boddington Hall near Leeds.
AFC have been drawn in a group with Hampton & Richmond, Swindon Town and a team of Arsenal fans from Nigeria, with the games taking place tomorrow.
The top two in each group go into the main knockout cup on Sunday with the bottom two going into the plate competition.
"It is disappointing because everyone wants to go to the first friendly," said team member John Barker. "But we can't pull out at this stage.
"We are looking forward to the competition and think we can do well."
AFC finished ninth in their first season in the supporters' league last season, winning 11 and drawing five of their 20 games.
