THE consortium running Halifax Town have offered to end their efforts to keep the club alive - if that's what the club's supporters want.
In a statement issued tonight, the consortium repeated its desire to see the club return to action at 'the highest possible level' following its expulsion from the Blue Square Premier.
And, clearly stung by recent criticism of their efforts, they ha
ve sought to clarify their current position.
"If the fans want the Consortium to cease with their efforts to try and preserve the Club as near to its former league position, then we can advise Begbies Traynor immediately," said the statement.
"The Club can start the process of being liquidated, subject of course, to no other parties being willing or able to carry on with what we were seeking to do.
"This would allow the Supporter's Trust to commence with forming its own 'Fans-run' Club. We do not want to be where we are not required.
"Halifax Town is a very expensive and time consuming labour of love but the hardcore of 1,000 to 1,500 fans, deserve a professional Club.
"All along, prior to the administration, it was stated that we would stand aside, if anybody else wanted to take over the running and we would not require our 'investment' back.
"When the Company went in to administration, it was made available for sale and it is currently available for sale.
"At the moment, we are trying to give the existing club a chance to resurrect itself, either through ourselves (the Consortium) or some other group or individual."
The statement added that nothing could have been done to secure the club's future until the confirmation of expulsion had been received.
Confirmation finally arrived from the Blue Square Premier late on Friday afternoon.
"In respect of the above and only upon receiving the letter from the Football Conference, can the Club proceed with trying to sort out its future status and decide upon any specific courses of action.
"This will be done with the utmost haste, but we are bound by the processes that have to be adhered to when dealing with all the appropriate agencies, the FA, the Football Conference, solicitors, accountants etc."

How do the consortium plan to canvass the views of the supporters? Surely not solely by reading the website messageboards? Is it not now time to approach fans openly? Many fans want to believe that the consortium will come through, yet every statement closes more doors than it opens.

the truth...noone goes into a venture like this without expecting to lose money or at least face a struggle so hats off to the Consortium...what they are not so good at is communication - just speak out more often boys and show everyone that you care...we know you do just show it...bit more passion please...

The only reason that people are starting to go against the consortium is because they have hidden behind silence and weak statements for so long.

There is a worry that they aren't acting fast enough, and there is a worry that they haven't got the plans in place to take the club forward.

We're grateful for the cash injections, and grateful that you're continuing to inject cash....but PLEASE come and meet us. Tell us your plans in detail, and show us that you are with us.

It would go a long way in helping the fans understand you!

Dont say "if you dont want us we'll walk away", when we can't make an informed decision when you're not informing us of anything.
