MATT Calland wasn't kidding yesterday when he talked about the "business end" of the National League One season.
With six games left to play, the heat is well and truly on at the top of the ladder.
A mere four points cover leaders Salford, second placed Fax and Celtic Crusaders back in third spot.
That makes the race for the title too close to call, with any one of that trio potential table toppers.
A mistake now could prove to be hugely expensive.
Ultimately, and leaving aside the added prestige of finishing the year on top of the pile, it perhaps doesn't matter too much whether Fax finish first or second.
Either way, they would end up playing a home game with a Grand Final spot as the prize.
And, with the way Calland's men have performed on home soil in 2008, that would be an enticing prospect.
Third place - and a likely away game at Bridgend or the Willows - is one to avoid though.
With Salford at Featherstone on Sunday and Celtic hosting Whitehaven tonight - both games you would expect them to win - that makes it even more critical that Fax pick up their own three point haul against Widnes tomorrow.
The Vikings will have something to say about that, and having taken five points from a possible six against the Reds this year, arguably present the biggest test Fax have faced on home soil all season.
The home side will certainly need to be more efficient than they were against Leigh 10 days ago, even if that means curtailing their attacking adventure.
