Martial Arts: England stars pay a visit

THE England karate team have been sharpening their skills in Calderdale this week prior to the junior and cadet world championships in Morocco later this month.
The 22-strong party, plus coaches, have been guests of Matthew Handley's Halifax Sports Karate club based at Mill House Works in Sowerby Bridge.
They have been training threee times a day under nine times world champion Wayne Otto OBE, Greg Francis and Natalie Williams. They have been staying at the Hobbit Inn, Norland.
Handley said Otto was a hugley respected figure in the sport and it was a big honour for England to attend the club, which opened its own premises in August 2009.
"The club has recieved praise from everyone involved with the England set-up for its hospitality," said Handley.
