Leighton Samuel, the Crusaders owner and chairman, this week reacted to concerns over the club's financial state by insisting he remains fully committed, and now the RFL have revealed they are providing a helping hand through their clubs' support programme.
"It was always going to be tough for Celtic in their first year as an engage Super League club and the RFL is lending its expertise to provide the support they need," said RFL director of development Gary Tasker.
"When their Super League licence was first approved, the world was a very different place to what it is now and no-one at Celtic Crusaders could have anticipated many of the difficulties they have faced.
"However, they are in it for the long haul and we are determined to do what we can to help them find additional investors."
Former Wakefield and Halifax football manager Steve Ferres - a close ally of RFL boss Nigel Wood - and ex-Hull chief executive David Plummer are working alongside Tasker, who was one of the driving forces behind the successful rebranding of Bradford Bulls in 1995.
The Crusaders, who are bottom of the table with just two wins from their first 19 matches, need an average home gate of 4,500 but have surpassed that figure at Brewery Field in only three of the nine home games in their first year.

I take it from Mr Taskers comment that he/they are blaming the recession. Come on, allowing Celtic into super league was always treading on thin ice. As soon as Nigel Woods name is mentioned it spells disaster. The RFL has made a fool of it's self again.

Staying in super league will kill the club, no one is going to watch a losing team.
They should pull back to the championship next season and try to rebuild.

HRLFC would be a perfect replacement for 2010.

"crisis brewing" and they play at Brewery Field - brilliant journalism.

was never going to be a success but hey ho the RFL will step in and help them to save face, can't see them helping out Rochdale or Doncaster who are in a worse situation.

Totally agree with CJE. I think its disgusting pumping all this money into a 'developing team' where teams like Donny and Rochdale, from the heart of the sport are suffering. If they're a 'developing team' they shouldn't have been given a Super Legue license. Are you they going to bail out Toulouse and Gateshead when they're fast tracked through in 2011 s well???
