Keighley Town A 6 - Whitehall Warriors 40
(Division Five)

Whitehall Warriors ended a bad run of results with a crushing victory against Keighley Town A.
The Warriors knew they had to cash in on the struggling Town team and started brightly forcing an error deep in the Town half.

From the resulting play an inside ball from scrum half Paul Stead sent prop forward Richard Casanove crashing through the Town defence to score next to the posts. Stead added the extras for an early 6-0 lead.

The Warriors were soon in again as Casanove broke through the defence before passing inside to the supporting James Spivey who finished under the posts, Stead adding the conversion.

Ricky Middleton then teased the Town defence before finding Tony Power, who drew the winger and passed on to Ricky Johnson who dived in at the corner.

By now the Warriors were playing fast flowing rugby league and broke through the Town defence at will.

Alex Scargill went in for another try, Stead again adding the conversion.

The Warriors finished the half strongly with a try just before the half time whistle as Scargill charged into the line to score his second of the game. Stead's conversion set up a commanding 28-0 half time lead.

After the break, the Warriors were soon shocked as a weaving run from the Town full back caught them napping.

That try gave the Warriors the wake up call they needed, Terry Thacker combining with Andrew Shepherd to send Spivey in for his second of the game.

Thacker took over the kicking duties to add the extra two points.

The Warriors struck again as another flowing move found Thacker, who cut open the Town defence to sprint under the posts from the half way line. Casanove landed the conversion.
