CROCS gained a tremendous win in a heart-stopping contest against the North Two East leaders.
It was the classic 'game of two halves', two coats of paint being the difference between the teams.

Crocs won with a 50 metre penalty from Jonathan Davies in injury time which went in off a post. Driffield then hit a post with a penalty.

The t
eams traded early penalties for 3-3. Driffield's first attack nearly succeeded when their No 12, one of two Kiwis, cut through.

Crossleyans responded from a 30 metre lineout when Chris Jones used his great power to take on two tacklers and slip a pass to Davies, who crossed for a converted try to make it 10 - 3.

The referee repeatedly penalised the home side and Crocs, playing their best rugby of the season, went 16-3 up after 30 minutes.

In the second half replacement Jack Hammond caught a long Driffield punt on his own line, then weaving his way to the 22. Adam Hinchcliffe made ground to half way and wing James Wainwright sped up the right and kicked inside. Flyhalf Jones hacked forward and collected to round off a fine move and make it 21-3.

Driffield pulled back three points and No 10 Clayton Messina kicked another penalty when Jones was sin binned. A penalty for talking led to a 21-12 scoreline and when Jack Hammond was penalised for a stiff-arm tackle and sin binned the gap was cut to six points.

Jones returned but Driffield pressure told and their wing scored their first try, under the posts, for Messina to make it 22-21 with five minutes left.

Driffield missed another penalty, Jack Hammond returned and then Neil Richardson narrowly missed a 45 metre penalty.

Crocs were given 'another last chance' 50 metres out and player-coach Jonathan Davies shouldered the responsibility magnificently to give his side the lead.

Messina had a similar chance with the wind but Crocs luck was in as the ball bounced out.

CROCS seconds lost 29-22 to Bradford and Bingley.
