Rugby Union: Frustration but Morgan is still upbeat

RHYS Morgan was left a frustrated and disappointed man after watching his side fail to build on a potentially match-winning position and suffer a 24-13 reversal at the hands of Preston Grasshoppers as a result.
Disappointed that his side had failed to close a game out that was there for the taking after building a 13-5 lead with 20 minutes to go, and frustated by a number of baffling decisions from the referee which failed to help the game as a spectacle.
Morgan described the game as "bitty" and there would be few in a healthy-sized Ovenden Park crowd that would disagree.
Halifax certainly had the opportunity to secure a welcome first day win, but once again their inability to close games out came back to haunt them.
That, coupled with a sending off for Dan Solomi and a yellow card shown to Richard Brown in a mad two minutes during the second half, combined to ensure they finished their opening National Three (North) fixture with nothing to show for their efforts.
"Nothing seemed to go for us today which was very frustrating," said Morgan.
"The penalty count against us was something like four to one and we were just hanging on in there.
"We had gone 3-0 up then they score a controversial try in the corner which had a number of people scratching their heads
"We plugged away and managed to get ourselves into a position where we were two scores ahead.
"At that point I was thinking that things were levelling up. They then get a couple in the sin-bin in quick succession and we were thinking the win is on here.
"But they score two tries at a stage when they were down to 14 men and from that moment we were trying to force it and again we find ourselves coming up short."
Morgan was left to reflect on individual errors and a number of missed tackles as well as the departures of both Solomi and Brown.
"It was the same old story to a certain extent and we have certainly been here before in terms of individual errors," added Morgan.
"At 13-5 up there should have been no way back for them and we are going to have to learn to seal games off or this will continue happening.
"There were also too many missed tackles and in that respect we still have plenty to learn.
"Losing two players when we did was critical to the result.
